RAM NAVAMI TODAY;
SOME UNANSWERED QUESTIONS !
May be,we had a great past but all that was old,was not gold.A good deal of it was base metal.The mythological epic Ramayana is not exclusively treatise of morals and symbolizes misogynic and apartheid mindset too.
GHASTLY MURDER OF SHUDRA SHAMBUKA !
According to Ramayana,the whole world was created by "god"exclusively for the glory of benefit of the Brahmins alone.The special feature of "Ramrajya"was that a son would not die while the father was alive.A Brahmin loses his son and according to established norms he openly blames Rama and his state for some moral turpitude.Committee of eight Brahmins headed by Vasishta after deliberation report that the death of Brahmin boy was due to the fact that some Shudra was mastering scriptures and performing tapas,a horrible crime under Ramrajya.After a long search,poor Shudra called Shambuka was located was located doing rigorous tapas.Without a moments hesitation,Rama "with a beautiful sharp sword chopped off his head."The "gods" in heaven were so delighted at the "god like work"of Rama that they showered flowers upon his head and extolled him like-"by thy grace this Shudra will not be able to attain heaven."[Ramayana,UK,chapter 89].
ORDEAL OF SITA !
it is beyond any logic or comprehension that if Ahalya could be purified by mere touch of Rama's feet,why Seeta could not attain that purity status by the constant touch of her husband Rama.It will be pertinent to mention here that,with the death of Ravana,there was an end to the sorrows of Rama and there should have been an end to the sorrows of Seeta as well.Rama,against all evidence,suspected the chastity of his wife during the captivity and banished her after having made her pregnant.Ultimately Seeta put an end to her sorrows by burying herself alive.Seeta is the personification of man's injustice to women in this country through ages.
TAILPIECE :-In the whole of the epic,a man with blemishes was the rule while a women with blemishes was an exception.
