Religion will teach you to fear being different, to fear standing up for yourself, and to fear being an independent thinker. It will erode your self-trust by explaining why you’re unable to successfully manage life on your own terms: You are unworthy. You’re a sinner. You’re unclean. You belong to a lesser caste. You are not enlightened. Of course the solution is always the same — submit to the will of an external authority. Believe that you’re inadequate. Give away your power. Follow their rules and procedures. Live in fear for the rest of your life, and hope it will all turn out okay in the end.

When you practice faith instead of conscious living, you live under a cloak of fear. Eventually that cloak becomes so habitual you forget it’s even there. It’s very sad when you reach the point where you can’t even remember what it feels like to wield creative freedom over your own life, independent of what you’ve been conditioned to believe.

RATIONALIST INQUISITIVENESS !
Rationalism promotes inquisitiveness and scientific temper.Thus it is opposed to any kind of dogmatic and metaphysical assumptions,religious prejudice and conservatism. Mere negation of hypothesis about supposed 'god' and its associated religiosity is not rationalism.One has to be rational ,in practice and perception in all aspects of our day to day life.I have come across rationalist friends,who quite inexplicably support regressive and reactionary socio-political concepts. .Rationalism is in,tune with scientific temper and accept in any intellectual pursuit,spirit of inquiry,commitment to truth and a well calculated method to give progressive knowledge of facts.Rationalism accepts a naturalistic order and aims at human well being and happiness in this world.The idea of an other worldly supra mundane disembodied existence is a myth. The idea of heaven,hell,day of judgment,liberation,disembodied existence etc are religious beliefs and not proven facts.

COMBATING REGRESSIVE HINDUTAV CHALLENGE !
Secular forces should make it a battle of ideologies and not a clash of personalities

Tragically, the Congress leaders have virtually fallen in the sangh parivar’s trap of converting the ongoing elections in some states and the for the coming 2014 polls for the Lok Sabha as a clash between personalities or simply as a battle between the two political parties. Having failed so far in their nefarious designs of destroying the secular democratic foundations of the Indian state for establishing a monolithic, communal and fascist Hindu rashtra, the saffron brigade the has been playing all kinds of tricks to befool the people about its real designs. The next poll is not that of a clash of personalities or simply a matter of change of government but a clash between the two idelogies-secular democracy versus theocratic communal fascism. The Congress and other secular forcers in the country must look at the next poll battle in its right perspective and ensure that the division in their ranks should in no way help the communal fassict forces to capture the most important pillar of democracy, its legislature.

Shockingly, the parivar fascists have not only found their place in bureaucracy and other wings of the services, apart from the legislatures in large numbers but have also penetrated into the armed forces and even judiciary, the watchdog of democracy. The systematic process of such penetration into various democratic and secular institutions apart from the country’s social and political life started right after independence and more than any one it is the Congress and other secular parties which would be blamed for this kind of situation. RSS’s role in the communal holocaust in the wake of India’s partition was too well known to allow it to continue its activities in secular India. RSS, Hindu Mahasabha and some other parties which openly believed in the concept of a theocratic state and thus opposed to secularism should have no legal right to exist in a secular country.

RSS not only stands for India as a Hindu nation but also considers the minorities like Muslims, Christians and Parsis as aliens who, according to erstwhile RSS chief M.S.Golwalkar cannot be treated as citizens of India and as such should either stay as second class citizens, denied of all rights, or should be driven out. The demand for banning such organizations after independence was unfortunately not heeded by the Congress which assumed power. It was only after the assassination of Gandhiji on January 30 in 1948 that ban was imposed on RSS and a number of its leaders and activists as also V.D.Savarkar were arrested for their alleged involvement in the conspiracy to kill the father of the nation. However, succumbing to the pressure of communal forces and as a matter of political convenience the ban on RSS was removed.

The involvement of RSS and its various offsprings in the large number of communal riots since independence is an established fact. Still nothing was done by the proclaimed secular state to outlaw such organizations working for destroying the secular fabric of the country. On the contrary the RSS and its political outfit like the Jana Sangh (now BJP) could increasingly penetrate into the country’s social, political and administrative life only due to the compromising attitude of the secular parties. While the Congress adopted a soft Hindutva policy keeping in view the majority vote bank it were the parties with clear commitment for secularism and socialism which provided a kind of respectability to the RSS and its political wing.

It is a tragedy that the Congress and other secular parties have failed to understand the grave danger that the emergence of Hindutva forces and their terrorism have been posing not only to the secular character of the country but also to the very survival of India as a state. If the onward march of the Hidutva fascism is not checked there is every danger of India soon turning into a theocratic Hindu nation. This will destroy the very idea of India, its pluralistic character and the very cherished value of our freedom struggle. It’s time for secular parties to join hands and unite on a single plank of defeating the BJP and its outfits and frustrating their nefarious designs. The Congress in particular must shed its complacency, abandon its soft Hindutva approach, and launch an ideological battle against the fascist communal forces. At the same time there is need to weed out such elements from various vital organs of the state.

The "god" of theists is a ghost,infinitely attenuated and expanded,coterminous with the entire universe.Children believe in ghosts and adults with children mentality believe in "god".Every child born into the world is not a theist;theism is the result of indoctrination based on respective religions and associated religiosity.The growth of a child into a theist or an atheist has nothing to do with the existence or non existence of 'god'.
Religious belief is powerful in proportion to the want of scientific knowledge on the part of believer;the more ignorant-the more credulous and gullible.Belief in 'god' is not founded on reason.If at all we brush aside all our rational explanations and try to have a child like faith in 'god',then too there crop up questions as to what we ultimately gain in believing that 'god' exists.
Has belief in 'god' prevented man from committing crime against man ?Has the thought of 'god' made men really generous,moral and civilized?Can we claim that the faith in 'god' has preserved and enhanced the dignity of man ?Has mankind been been benefited from the belief in 'god'?The answer is an emphatic NO.
The presence of pain,misery,strife,crimes and other social evils contradicts rather than confirms the attribution of 'god' as omnipotent,omnipresent,omniscient and above all benevolent .
We in India are aware how numerous religions,professing and preaching numerous 'gods' have divided Indians into various casts and creeds.They have created communalism [communal divide],and parochialism,brought bloodshed on numerous occasions and ultimately weakened the country's solidarity.

2. सूर्य के बारे में कही गयी सभी बाते चंद्रमा पर भी लागू होती हैं । चंद्रमा ने अपनी दिशा और दशा कैसे बदली और दिन और रात बदलने में वो किस प्रकार सहायक हुआ जबकि वो सोया हुआ था ?
3. वायु का देवता पवन भी सोया हुआ था तो फिर इस धरती पर वायु का संचार कैसे हुआ ? पवन देव की मौजूदगी में कैसे लोगो को प्राण वायु प्राप्त हुयी और कैसे जीवन संभव हो पाया ?
4. जब देवी अन्नपूर्णा भी सो गयी तो फिर पृथ्वी पर चार महीने तक अन्न की प्राप्ति कैसे हुई ? चार महीने तक अन्न के अभाव में लोग मृत्यु को कैसे प्राप्त नहीं हुए ?
5. जल के देवता भी जब चार माह तक सोये रहे तो पृथ्वीवासियों को चार माह तक जल कहाँ से किसने उपलब्ध कराया और बिना जल के जीवन कैसे संभव हो पाया ?
6. चार महीने तक विद्या की देवी लक्ष्मी भी सोती रही फिर जबकि अभी चार महीने का समय ही विद्यालय खुले हुए को हुआ है । अगर चार महीने ( जुलाई से अक्टूबर तक ) सरस्वती सोती ही रहती है फिर विद्यालयों को जुलाई में खोलने का क्या फायदा ? जब विद्या की देवी सरस्वती ज्ञान देने के लिए ही उपलब्ध नहीं हैं तो अध्यापक कहाँ से विद्या देंगे और विद्यार्थी कहाँ से ज्ञान प्राप्त करेंगे ?
7. चार महीनों तक अग्निदेव भी पूरी तरह निद्रा में मगन रहे फिर सभी के घर अग्नि कहाँ से प्रकट हो गयी ? बिना अग्नि के मानव जीवन ठप क्यों नहीं हुआ ?
8. चार महीनों तक वरुण देव भी सोते रहे फिर भी देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में बारिश होती रही क्यों ? यहाँ तक कि भारत के दो वनडे मैच भी बारिश के कारण रद्द करने पड़े ।

Ramayana-a retelling,written by British Indian poet,Daljit Nagra ,just published has been short listed for the 2013 T S Eliot prize.'Modern' version of the mythological epic,has been inscribed in a mish-mash of Indian English,British English,old fashioned English,words from Hobson-Jobsan,American English,Australian English,Hinglish and Punjabi.
Rather a lot, it turns out it, in his rollicking, often rude and riveting version of an epic that is as much an instruction manual on how to live as a graphic adventure narrative of war. This is, first, not a faithful retelling but a high-octane mythology redux which makes a conscious effort to be contemporary, It uses street parlance, hybrid Punjabi and a visual onomatopoeia achieved by different fonts, styles and spellings ("BASTARRDDDDS YOOOOO ALLL SHUTTTING UPPP" represents a shout, while verses on flying spears are shaped as this weapon arching across the sky). More radical - and less gimmicky – is its crude humor and racy sexuality. There are obscenities in Punjabi; libidinous characters crave "gigolo action"; women are "totty", warriors "top dogs", while demons are "randy" or "cruising to be bruising".

Violence appears vivid, modern, almost celluloid, rather than the kind that belongs in an ancient epic. While noses and nipples are sliced off, heads speared and bodies ripped apart by arrows, great armies appear on the horizon in the same multiplying scale as Mr Smith's android army in The Matrix, and warriors have special deadly powers as imaginative as those found in The Incredibles. A monkey can shrink or grow his way out of peril; a demon's son can become invisible on the battlefield; another monkey can absorb the strength of its enemy. New Delhi. Taking inspiration from politicians who can’t decide between Congress and BJP, a restaurant called “Third Front” has been launched for people who can’t decide between a Tandoori chicken and Barbeque chicken.
“Every restaurant gets frustrated with customers who take hours to place their order. They keep discussing among themselves – aaj Mexican try karte hain, Thai try karein kya – and finally order Hakka noodles or Paav Bhaaji,” Nitish Patnaik, chef of newly launched Third Front told Faking News.

Superstition is not something new in the judiciary. There are judges in the Karnataka High Court who prefer their chambers to be facing a particular direction.

However here is a bit of information on the superstition that surrounds the judges of the Supreme Court. Well read through it and I can assure that you will be as surprised as me.

No 6, Tughlaq Road, New Delhi: A residence on this road was earmarked for the judges of the Supreme Court. Alloted in 1980, this house lies vacant today with none of the judges willing to occupy it.

Here is how the story goes.

It is said and believed that the wives of the judges residing in this house contract cancer.

It all started with Justice K Ramaswamy who occupied the house first. His wife died of cancer. The house was then occupied by Justice Srinivasan. His wife too fell ill and later died of cancer. The house was then occupied by the former Chief Justice, Y K Sabharwal. Sadly, his wife too contracted the dreaded disease and passed away.
Next, it was the turn of a sitting SC judge from Punjab. His wife too has reportedly contracted cancer now. After him, a newly-appointed judge occupied the house. However, two months later a similar fate befell one of his family members, following which he decided to vacate the house.
Foxed, the SC has written to the Centre to withdraw the house immediately from its pool.

"However much we may say that we are not superstitious, none has the guts to fight the unknown.''

MANY THINGS ARE NOT RIGHT ABOUT RELIGION ;
Politico-historical factors notwithstanding, the present crisis is a conflict between “Science and Religion.” Conservatives of all colours and all items and nations have resisted scientific, social changes. Today, the fanatical elements of the Islamic world violently resist social reforms in the cyber age that were confronted by western societies in 19th century. Equality of life and liberty are the new mantra that threatens all old traditions that are based on the exclusiveness of their religious paradise.

But, as we know, now there is no exclusive blood group identity that divides us in terms of gender, caste, race and region or religion. The democratic equality paradigm has undercut the very basis of exclusiveness. The principle of equality, irrespective of gender, caste, class, race, region or religion, is not found in the religious testament of any faith, or ancient religion.

In fact, all religions promise a safe heaven or paradise, liberation or moksha or nirvana but for their own flock. No religion speaks about the inclusive civil rights of all humanity. No world religion speaks of establishing a non-discriminatory social order. There is no fatwa against killing a non-believer. There is no testament against raping and stoning to death a female or Dalit. In fact, all religious preachers practise social discrimination, and have disfranchised the non-believers, women, the poor and the outcast.

Those who think the conflict is between the West and the East or Islamic world often justify terrorist violence due to the hopelessness of “the oppressed minorities” who turn to “violence and terrorism to avenge the majority oppression” But, according to the Concerned Scientists and Philosophers, it is an irrational political reasoning. (The 21st century Manifesto). For poverty and discrimination are not country-community-or religion-specific. In fact, there are no innocent followers of any caste, region or religion that have not violated the human rights of women and the weak. No race, region, religion or, caste, class or creed was or is free from wrongdoings against “other” humans.

In the Hindu belief system, the social status is determined by the Law of Karma. If you are born as a woman, poor, or Dalit, that is divine dispensation based on your karma (wrongdoings) in the previous birth. There is, however, some redemption for those who die drinking the holy water of the Ganga. But there is no constitutional provision to grant equal human rights to women and the poor in any holy book of any world religion.

Although banned under the Constitution, Hindutva votaries still worship satis (widow burned alive) and the neo-conservatives still commit “honour killing.” Raping and killing nuns by Hindu fanatics is symptomatic of the same sickness which drives Islamist jihadis to stone helpless women to death. We must be reminded of the ghastly act of burning alive an Australian Christian missionary, along with his two children, by Hindutva gangsters. But no Hindu saint or religious head cried of curse, or condemned Hindu rightist crimes.

Similarly, those who raped and killed thousands of helpless women, and massacred Bangladesh President Mujibur Rehman and his family were not the oppressed poor minority. The genocide of the majority Muslim Bengalis was committed not by Hindutva men but by the Muslim majority state of the Islamic Republic. Those who issued a fatwa and attacked Taslima Nasreen, author of Lajja (the Shame), were not oppressed Kashmiris.

Mrs. Malalai Kakar, 40, mother of six children, was a high profile first policewoman officer in Kandhar. She was investigating crimes against women and children in the Muslim majority Afghanistan. “We killed Malalai Kakar. She was our target and we successfully eliminated our target,” boasted a Taliban spokesman. In another case, a film director of the Netherlands was killed for making a film on the women’s struggle for equal rights in an African Muslim society.

A multireligious nation, India adopted a secular and democratic Constitution granting inclusive equal rights to all citizens, irrespective of gender, caste, creed, region or religion. But religious conservatives of all colours actively oppose the political theory of separation of state and religion. The Christian world faced this problem in the 18-19th century when the Pope ruled the West. But theological polity cannot survive the challenges of scientific restructuring of society.

CAMPAIGN AGAINST SUPERSTITION,FANTASIES AND IDIOSYNCRASIES ;
"DEVOTEES" PLEASE THE "GODDESS" WITH CHOICEST ABUSES !
The most that a particular religion can base its claims on is faith, which really amounts to superstition. If people are to know and understand the real world, they must give up superstitious beliefs because they have a narcotic effect on the mind. As an opiate, religion drugs people into thinking they have found a form of security and salvation. However, this comfort is actually an illusion. Progress cannot be made in society until mankind has discarded the drug-like effects brought on by the superstition of religion-so said Karl Marx.

[In Kerala, India, there is a temple called 'Kodungalloor Bhagawathy Temple'. Every year in the Malayalam month of 'Meenam' (March-April) the'Bharani' day is celebrated here. Large number of oracles (velichappadu) assemble here for the festival and they go into a frenzied mood. The major highlight of the festival is hurling of abuses at the deity in the form of songs in highly obscene language. No 'devotee' is annoyed by this nor anyone take objection on the deity being abused in filthy language for it is part of the ritual. Read more in the followig reports.]

"How many here have heard about "Kodungalloor Bharani festival" in kerala? This is a festival in a famous temple in Kerala (supposedly a budhist/jain shrine at some point) where profane songs are sung as part of the festival and procession through the town. "Bharani pattu" (Bharani song) is synonymous with obscene song in malayali vocabulari. Usually people living in that area shut the doors and stay inside while the procession goes around (to avoid hearing "bharani paattu") during the festival."

"Kavu Theendal', (the pollution ceremony) is the most important event of the Kodungallur Bharani festival. Hordes of vellichappads (oracles) including women who have arrived from other parts of the state assemble at various spots in the temple compound. The Oracles in their red attire charge around the temple in a mad rush, waving their sabres in the air, while members of their retinue strike the temple roof beam with sticks and hurl objects including cocks over the roof on to the inner quadrangle. They use abusive words to goddess of the shrine. This abusive language is supposed to be acceptable to her. The offerings by devotees include turmeric powder, kumkum, pepper etc and the cocks. The velichappads and their followers circle the temple three times in a frenzy and then fall before the king for his blessing."

CAMPAIGN AGAINST SUPERSTITIONS;
THOUSANDS FLOCK TO ANNUAL MADYA PRADESH "BHOOT MELA" TO GET EXORCISED !
BETUL: It's a mela with a spirited presence. In Malajpur, a village in Betul district some 300 km from Bhopal, an annual fair is devoted to the exorcising of ghosts. Thousands throng here from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and even Andhra Pradesh for the month-long 'bhoot pret ka mela' that will make their lives easier.

While exorcism is an old practice in some of India's villages, holding a fair for it is rare. The mela is held in a temple on the first day of Paush Poornima and continues till Basant Panchami. Bhikhari lal Yadav, a priest there explains, "Exorcism here is a centuries-old practice. We hold a samadhi of Guru Deoji sant and every evening, after the prayer, we treat those under the spell of ghosts and evil spirits." Guru Deoji, incidentally, was a Rajput with supernatural powers who was born around 1700 AD. His powers included turning sand to sugar, clay to jaggery and restoring eyesight to the blind. His reputation grew when, during droughts, he made the granaries overflow. After his death, a samadhi was made and for the last two-and-a-half centuries, exorcism has been going on here.

It is mainly women who come here to get rid of evil spirits. Psychiatrists say this is because their mental problems are often ignored by their families till it gets worse and they seem 'possessed'. The treatment is free here and devotees offer jaggery if their wishes are fulfilled. This year, more than 1,000 women were exorcised.

The exorcism starts late in the evening after 'aarti' has been performed. While normal people do a 'parikrama' of the temple anti-clockwise, the 'possessed' walk clockwise. Crowds chant, "Guru Maharaj ki jai" and families bring their ill members one-by-one. Amidst the chanting of mantras and sprinkling of holy water, the women become hysterical and flay about wildly before collapsing. Earlier, the priests would wield brooms during the rituals but that's a practice of the past.

Sunita, a Class IX student from Rampur village in Chhindwara district, is one of those believed to have benefited from this ritual. A relative of hers says, " One day, she suddenly fell unconscious and we were convinced she was possessed by an evil spirit. After a session of exorcism, she has started behaving normally."

Families of others too say their wards have got better. However, Rahul Sharma, a clinical psychologist from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, says the psyche of those assembled at Malajpur can be termed as a "hysterical" and says that conventional treatments such as psychotherapy, sociotherapy and medicines can also cure this problem.

Such blind practices are being combated, says S R Azad, general secretary of MP Vigyan Sabha. "We often do awareness camps and communicate to the villagers through science. The government should discourage this kind of superstition where poor villagers are exploited."

That's easier said than done.

THE ONLY TRUE FACE.
We may rightfully criticise Taliban and other jihadists for adopting violent and inhuman means to enforce an abusive, oppressive, obscurantist and brutal way of life in the name of the only true and final word of god but how can we forget their unparalleled, unique and undeniable service of bringing the only one and true face of their faith to the lime light. These jihadists though naively but truthfully and with the depth of their sincerity and devotion have convinced the world to the only true face of their faith by blowing up people, cutting their throats and condemning and rejecting any other interpretation of their religion as fake and hypocritical. In this wonderful era of social media networks appearing on the horizon, it is no more possible for an obscurantist and violent ideology to hide its ugly face behind any fake or hypocritical facade of moderation and civility. We may differ with Taliban and other jihadists for making a violent and inhuman bid to enforce an obscurantist and medieval philosophy, mindset and way of life upon their respective societies, but we can't deny to their untiring and sincere effort for successfully doing away with every hypocrisy and bringing to light the only true face of their faith, how so ever it may be hurting to our cherished beliefs and illusions.

The mystery about old age persists with different hypothesis-when does one become old,why and how ?At the same time it is inexplicable as well strange that Indian 'gods' like Rama and Krishna always remain young.
Interestingly enough,in India,where parents are supposed to be worshiped like 'gods',the'gods' are ever young,active,prankish,fond of music,dances,drinks and love making. After all having a monopoly of Amrit,they enjoy the privilege of being immortal .In fact ,even when they assume mortal frame and descend on the earth as 'avatars',they retain their power to keep old age at bay. Who indeed,ever thinks of Rama and krishna as old men?For reasons unknown ,only the Brahma,supposed creator is projected as an ancient being.In the collective consciousness of India, Vishnu supposed  preserver and Mahesh, supposed destroyer are ever young.
On the other hand,Rishi's always had long shaggy beards- the symbol of their 'stigmatic status' as mortals until they would undergo unending penance to attain parity with the 'gods'. Of course,these were myths and in this part of world,there is sanctimonious sanctity for myths,are to be believed in implicitly and not to be questioned or scrutinized on the basis of logic or reason or dissected analytically.The problem in India is that Hindu thinkers rarely went beyond primordial myths to brood over the phenomenon of old age and how one may overcome or transcend its problems.

LIONISING PATEL THROUGH SELECTIVE AMNESIA AND CYNICAL MANIPULATION !

Modi has announced that he is building in Gujarat a statue of Vallabbhai Patel,which would be the tallest in the world and twice the height of Statue of liberty.

Sardar Patel,if he is at all watching these developments,must be both a deeply anguished  and a very angry man.Angry because of his clever appropriation by those whom he steadfastly opposed. Anguished,because the vision of India being offered by his new devotees is so different to the one for which he dedicated his entire life.

WHY ?

*Modi,has never denied that he is still dedicated pracharak of RSS and deeply influenced by the philosophy of Rashtriya Swyam Sangh.Modi has reportedly written a book,praising Golwalkar,longest  serving Sarsanchalak of the RSS [1940-73].It will be pertinent  to ask Modi :-

1.Does he agree  with Golwalkar's explicitly stated views that India is an exclusively Hindu nation,with no place for people of other faiths,not even the rights of a citizen ?

2.Does he support Golwalkar's praise of Nazi Germany,for having manifested a nation's highest pride in exterminating the Jews ?

3.Does he believe ,like Golwalkar,that the Manusmriti,that consigns Shudras to perpetual  service of Brahmnas and advocates servitude of women,is the only valid law for India ?

*Patel was India's Home minister when,on February 2,1948,the Government banned the RSS,in pursuance of its -"determination to root out the forces of hate and violence that are at work in our country and imperil the freedom of the nation and darken her fair name".

*In a September 11,1948 letter to Guru Golwalkar,the then RSS sarsanchalak,the Sardar was forthright in his denunciation  of RSS leaders :-"all their speeches were full of communal poison. It was not necessary to spread poison in order to enthuse the Hindus and organize for their protection.As a final result of the poison,the country had to suffer the sacrifice of the invaluable life of Gandhi ji."

*Significantly the Sardar was never in doubt about the role of the RSS and the Hindu Mahasabha in the murder of the Mahatma. In a letter dated February 27,1948 to Nehru,he states this clearly :-"it was a fanatical wing of the Hindu Mahasabha directly under Sarvarkar that hatched the conspiracy and saw it through...of course,his assassination was welcomed by those of the RSS and Hindu Mhasabha who were strongly opposed to his way of thinking and to his policy ". 

*He reiterates this position in another letter [July 18,1948] to Shyama Prasad Mookerjee :-"as regards the RSS and Hindu Mahasabha...our reports do confirm that as a result of these two bodies ,particularly the former, an atmosphere was created in the country in which such a ghastly tragedy became possible."

*Incidentally ,although Nathuram Godse denied any direct link with the RSS at the time of his trial,many years later,in an interview to Frontline magazine in January 1994,his brother Gopal,was quite candid about the truth :-"all the brothers were in the RSS,Nathuram,Dattatreya, myself and Govind.You can say we grew up in the RSS rather than in our home.It was like a family to us. Nathuram had become a baudhik karyavah [intellectual worker] in the RSS."

*Sardar Patel was a staunch follower of Gandhi ji and his inclusive vision.His emphatic opposition to the RSS,the institution which mentored Modi and shaped his world view,is documented fact.What is then Modi trying to convey by co-opting Patel and building the world's tallest statue as tribute to him?

Why this political hypocrisy and dichotomy ?

The Quran Says that People of Other Religions
are to be Violently Punished in This World

Allah himself fights against the unbelievers (9:30), so why should Muslims not fight in his cause rather than in the cause of evil (4:76)?  About 19% of the Quran is devoted to the violent conquest and subjugation of non-Muslims:

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies and others besides, whom ye may not know (8:60)

Strive hard (Jihad) against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed.  (66:9, See also 9:73)

Muslims are to expect a reward in this life as well as the next (4:134), so it makes sense that unbelievers should be punished in this life as well:

…He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide. For them is a penalty in the life of this world, but harder, truly, is the penalty of the Hereafter… (13:33-34)

There are at least two places in the Quran where the violent death of non-Muslims is referred to as Allah's reward for unbelief (2:191, 9:26), as in "such is the reward for unbelievers."  Verse 3:56,  bluntly states that "those who reject faith" will be "punished with terrible agony in this world" (a vow that Muhammad and his companions personally took it upon themselves to fulfill).

The Quran tells Muslims that Allah uses them to violently punish others:

Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace... (9:14)

In the end, All beings on heaven and earth will be forced to bow down to Allah, either willingly or by force:

And unto Allah falleth prostrate whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly (13:15)

Muslims are told that Allah "loves those who fight in his way" to make Islam "victorious over all other religions, even though the disbelievers resist" (61:4-11). Those who do resist Islam will be humiliated:

Those who resist Allah and His Messenger will be among those most humiliated.(58:20 - The context for this verse is the eviction of the Jewish tribes of Medina and the confiscation of their wealth, land, and children by Muhammad).

Non-Muslims are to be fought until religion is only for Allah:

And fight them until there is no more ftna (unbelief, worshipping others beside Allah), and religion is all for Allah… (8:39 – Some translate the word "fitna" as “persecution”, but in this context it means resistance to Islam – defined in the prior verse as an unwillingness to believe (see verse 38).  This passage was “revealed” following a battle that Muhammad deliberately provoked.  Verse 2:193 essentially says the same thing and was also “revealed” at a time when the Muslims were notunder physical attack).

Those with "diseased hearts" - which include Christians and Jews according to 5:52 - are to be"seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter" (33:60-62) along with "hypocrites" (Muslims who are judged not to be true believers by their associations with unbelievers or their unwillingness to engage in Jihad).

Non-Muslims are to be encroached on, pressured and punished by the Muslims:

See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? (13:41 - See also 21:44)
We shall punish them gradually from directions they perceive not. (68:44)
And He made you heirs to their land and their dwellings and their property, and (to) a land which you have not yet trodden, and Allah has power over all things. (33:27, See also Bukhari 53:392)

Allah will grant Muslims authority and power over all other people:

Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion... (24:55)

(Muhammad's companions continued to self-fulfill this prophecy with an aggressive and senseless military expansion that left a trail of bodies from Spain to India).

Allah provides instructions to Muslims for dealing with unbelievers who are unwilling to accept Islamic rule:

Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment. (8:12-13)

Defeating non-Muslims should be easy for true believers because they are superior in intelligence and understanding:

O Prophet! Exhort the believers to fight. If there be of you twenty steadfast they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a hundred (steadfast) they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are a folk without intelligence (8:65)

Remember that the Quran says that not all men are equal according to Islam.  This even applies to Muslims with regard to their aggressiveness toward unbelievers.  Those who kill or are killed on behalf of Islam are more pleasing to Allah:

Not equal are those of the believers who sit at home... and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and lives" (4:95)

The Quran Says that Other Religions are Cursed by Allah

Buddhists in Thailand, Jews in Israel, Christians in Indonesia, Hindus in India...  Why is Islam at war with every major world religion, when none of these religions are at war with each other?  Part of the reason is that the Quran is specific about the inferiority of other faiths (see 48:28) and the hatred that Allah harbors for their people.

Although it is common for Muslims to become upset about anyone “insulting” their religion, here is what the Quran says about Jews and Christians:

The Jews call Ezra a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth! (9:30) (See also Bukhari 8:427), one of the last things Muhammad ever said on his deathbed was "May Allah curse the Jews and Christians.”)

The Quran specifically addresses Christians, Jews, Polytheists (Hindus) and atheists:

Christians are disbelievers (98:5-6) and blasphemers (5:17, 5:73) who have invented a lie about Allah (10:68-69) by ascribing partners to Allah (ie. the Trinity).  Inventing a lie about Allah is the worst of sins (7:37, 29:68) and for this reason Christians are condemned to Hell (10:70).  Although one (early Medinan) verse seems to say that righteous Christians will go to heaven, this is abrogated by later verses that make it very clear that Christians must cease being Christian (ie. reject the Trinity) or suffer eternal torment for their beliefs (5:72-73).

Jews are also cursed by Allah (5:13), in one of his final pronouncements.  The Quran goes on to assure Muslims that Jews are wicked (4:160-162) – so wicked, in fact, that they have somehow managed to do the impossible (18:27) and alter the word of Allah (2:75).  Jews are “fond of lies”and “devour the forbidden” (5:42).

The Quran assures believers that Jews and Christians have “diseased hearts” (5:52).  Allah even takes credit for the enmity between them (5:14).  Only Jews and Christians who submit to Islamic subjugation and pay the Jizya are protected in this world (9:29 & Ibn Ishaq 956).

Hindus are polytheists.  Although Muhammad didn’t know any Hindus (and neither did Allah, apparently) the Quran still manages to lay the groundwork for the 1000 year ethnic cleansing campaign against the Hindu people that is estimated to have taken tens of millions of innocent lives.  In Islam, polytheists are worse than all other religion.  Those who join idols (14:30) or false gods (11:14) to Allah also invent a lie about Him (29:17) and will burn in Hell.  Even believing in other divine entities along with Allah is an unforgivable crime (4:48, 40:12).

Atheists believe in no god, which is even worse than believing in the wrong one (Muhammad and his successors had atheists put to death - Bukhari 84:57).  Merely questioning the existence of Allah is a testament to one’s impiety (25:21), even as Muslim narcissim is encouraged in the Quran.  Muhammad always answered probing questions merely by telling the inquiring party that they would go to Hell if they didn’t believe in him (36:49-64).  The Quran discourages Muslims from intellectual inquiry (5:101-102).

Any Muslim who gives up his religion is a “perverted transgressor” (3:82).  Perverted as well is anyone who denies Allah (40:63) or does not believe Muhammad (2:99).  Freedom of conscience does not exist in Islam.  Muhammad clearly prescribed the death penalty for apostates (Bukhari52:260).

While contemporary Muslim apologists often speak of “dialogue” (meaning a unilateral arrangement in which they tell you about Islam while you listen) the Quran speaks of Jihad instead:

Listen not to the unbelievers, but strive (Jihad) against them with the utmost strenuousness. (25:52)

What would be the point in hearing anything a non-Muslim has to say... or even talking with them for that matter?  Allah has already sealed their hearts and condemned them to Hell:

As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not. Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom (2:6)

For those wondering why Allah would even make infidels if their ultimate destination is Hell, Muhammad said that the purpose of some (Jews and Christians, at least) was to take the place of Muslims, so that they would not suffer there (Sahih Muslim 6666).

The Quran Says that Non-Muslims are
Destined for Eternal Torture in Hell

Although nowhere does the Quran say that Allah loves those who don’t believe Muhammad, there are over 400 verses that describe the torment that he has prepared for people of other religions (or no religion):

And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers (3:85)

The relative worth of non-Muslims is that they are but fuel for the fire of Hell:

(As for) those who disbelieve, surely neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them in the least against Allah, and these it is who are the fuel of the fire (3:10Shakir: "firewood of hell")

As they are fueling the fire, unbelievers will be tormented by Allah’s angels on his command:

“O ye who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire whereof the fuel is men and stones, over which are set angels strong, severe, who resist not Allah in that which He commandeth them, but do that which they are commanded.” (66:6)

It doesn’t matter how many good deeds an unbeliever does, because they count for nothing with Allah:

The parable of those who reject their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a tempestuous day: No power have they over aught that they have earned (14:18)

Shall we tell you of those who lose most in respect of their deeds?  Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life, while they thought that they were acquiring good by their works?  They are those who deny the Signs of their Lord and the fact of their having to meet Him (in the Hereafter): vain will be their works, nor shall We, on the Day of Judgment, give them any weight.  That is their reward, Hell, because they rejected Faith, and took My Signs and My Messengers by way of jest. (18:103-106)

Muhammad told his people that anyone who rejects his claim to be a prophet will go to Hell:

Surely those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and (those who) desire to make a distinction between Allah and His messengers and say: ‘We believe in some and disbelieve in others’, and desire to take a course between (this and) that. These it is that are truly unbelievers, and We have prepared for the unbelievers a disgraceful chastisement. And those who believe in Allah and His messengers and do not make a distinction between any of them-- Allah will grant them their rewards(4:150-152)

In Christianity, punishment in the hereafter is directly tied to sin and ‘wickedness.’  There is relatively little said about Hell, but the emphasis is on personal suffering for selfish or cruel deeds.  In Islam, Hell is a punishment for merely not believing Muhammad’s personal claims about himself.  In contrast to the Bible, every 12^th verse of the Quran speaks of Hell and vividly describes Allah’s wrath on unbelievers:

But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads, Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted; And for them are hooked rods of iron Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning. (22:19-22)

No one could torture a person in this way without hating them intensely.  Neither can Allah’s intense loathing for unbelievers help but affect the Muslim attitude toward those outside the faith. 

The personal superiority of Muslims is confirmed by the contrasting picture painted in so many places in the Quran in which they are rewarded with the greatest of earthly comforts in heaven, while the unbelievers concurrently suffer horrible torment (see Sura 56 for just one example).

The Quran Dehumanizes Non-Muslims
and Says that They are Vile Animals

The Ayatollah Khomeini, who dedicated his entire life to studying Islam, said that non-Muslims  rank somewhere between "feces" and the "sweat of a camel that has consumed impure food."  Small wonder.  The Quran dehumanizes non-Muslims, describing them as “animals” and beasts:

Those who disbelieve from among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures. (98:6)

Surely the vilest of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve, then they would not believe. (8:55)

Verse 7:176 compares unbelievers to "panting dogs" with regard to their idiocy and worthlessness.  Verse 7:179 says they are like "cattle" only worse.

Verse 5:60 even says that Allah transformed Jews of the past into apes and pigs.  This is echoed by verses 7:166 and 2:65. 

A hadith (Bukhari 54:524) says that Muhammad believed rats to be "mutated Jews" (also confirmed by Sahih Muslim 7135 and 7136).

Verses 46:29-35 even say that unbelieving men are worse than the demons who believe in Muhammad. 

According to Islamic law, non-Muslims may be owned as property by Muslims, but - in keeping with Islam's supremacist message - a fellow Muslim should never be (unless they convert to Islam after enslavement).  Even Christians and Jews are not considered fully human in that the penalty for killing one of them is limited to one-third of the compensation due for unintentionally killing a Muslim.
