POLITICAL TRAGEDY;
SHAMELESS POLITICIAN ASHAMED !
So Nirmala Seetharaman wants us to know that Narendra Modi was ashamed when he was denied US visa. She also questions Congress’ silence and why they were not pestering US to grant one. So one fine day, our man said, "Enough of this shame, let me show these Amrikans." He got all the industrialists to pump in mammoth amounts into his election campaign. Together with leading advertising legends they coined a slogan "Achhe din aane waale hai". Shamelessly they went around selling dreams. Again shamelessly telling the masses that nothing has happened in India. That our dear India looks nothing different from Darfur of Sudan or Mogadishu of Somalia. It shamed everybody no end.
That was not the end of it. These people were not ashamed to form pre-election partnerships with parties that were ideologically different. They were not ashamed to ally with parties that openly supported terrorist organisations like LTTE. Because purna bahumat had to be attained at all costs.
They made fancy promises in election manifestos. Like bringing black money stashed outside in tax havens and credit 15 lakhs to every Indian. That too within 100 days of swearing in (I feel like swearing right now). To do away with article 370 in kashmir. To abolish rampant corruption. To make life secure for our women folk.
Starry eyed people believed and voted, thinking change will come. Inflation went up. Salaries evaporated. Our pockets had less of currency notes and more of change. We were not expecting this change, of course.
Within 12 months our PM has toured 18 countries. As if mocking US; “Joyu? Mane visa nathi aapti na.? (see, you were denying me visa?) He took his binoculars and the best suits, and went to exotic places. Everywhere shamelessly ridiculing his detractors back home. Now this is the limits, he wants us to believe that we were all hanging our heads in shame before he took over the reigns. Kalpana Chawla took the last seat on that space shuttle, just because we had a ‘scam India’ back home. Sabeer Bhatia had to sell off Hotmail, why? Because he was so ashamed of his roots. Amartya Sen, Madhur Jaffrey, Gurinder Chaddha, Lord Swaraj Paul, Laxmi Mittal all made India very proud... but deep inside they were very ashamed.
Suddenly dawned the morning of May 2014 and the same people who were ashamed now puffed up with pride. First time we had a government with illiterate sadhus, yogis, sadhvis and babas. Who technically meant to relinquish their worldly desires and head to the jungles of Himalayas in search of nirvana, but the lust for power, money, fame and maya brought them to right wing politics. These bachelors taught us the virtues of family planning and how to breed like mosquitoes, simply because they were scared that their virat population might get outnumbered with other low lives. What a shame that would be.
Farmers are dying, gang rapes are taking place, corrupt politicians are being bailed, terrorists are at large, our borders are being breached, naxals are killing our policemen, dowry deaths have not subsided, female infanticide is still widespread, unemployment exists, inflation never went away, rupee is falling. But you feel proud. You got US visa which was denied for so many years. Jalsa karo bhai jalsa.
