Why I am a Hindu 
I am an atheist, but if I had to choose my religion, I would have chosen Hinduism. That is because while in other religions there is only one God, in Hinduism there are 330 million gods. So you can choose the god who suits your temperament as your.'Ishta Devta'
If you are fond of drugs and alcohol, you can choose Lord Shiva ( he is said to be fond of bhaang, dhatura, etc ). If you are fond of many women, you can choose Lord Krishna ( the gopis of Vrindaban were very fond of him and he allegedly married 16000 women at a time ), but if you are devoted to one single woman, which you should be ( 'ek hi naari sada brahmachari', as I used to say in court while deciding bigamy cases ) you should choose Lord Rama.
You can select a god with the head of an elephant ( Ganesh ), or of a monkey ( Hanuman ) or even a pig ( Varaha devata ).. You can select a god with 4 heads ( Brahma ), though sadly the chap has few worshippers, and there is reportedly only one temple in his honour ( at Pushkar, near Ajmer ) in India. You can worship Kali or Murugan or whatever you like.
Or you can be an atheist like me, denounce all sacred books as containing nonsense and all religions to be superstitions and false, and yet remain a Hindu .

RATIONALIST INQUISITIVENESS !
Rationalism promotes inquisitiveness and scientific temper.Thus it is opposed to any kind of dogmatic and metaphysical assumptions,religious prejudice and conservatism. Mere negation of hypothesis about supposed 'god' and its associated religiosity is not rationalism.One has to be rational ,in practice and perception in all aspects of our day to day life.I have come across rationalist friends,who quite inexplicably support regressive and reactionary socio-political concepts. .Rationalism is in,tune with scientific temper and accept in any intellectual pursuit,spirit of inquiry,commitment to truth and a well calculated method to give progressive knowledge of facts.Rationalism accepts a naturalistic order and aims at human well being and happiness in this world.The idea of an other worldly supra mundane disembodied existence is a myth. The idea of heaven,hell,day of judgment,liberation,disembodied existence etc are religious beliefs and not proven facts.

Law for whom?

Our law enforcing agencies are either toothless or not dutifully capable. Law prescribes that no Chinese kite strings are to be used, but youngsters use these with impunity, resulting in serious injuries, even death. No stubble is to be burnt, but people resort to it, unmindful of its ill-effects. Triple riding on two-wheelers is a no-no, but youngsters do it all the time, even as they ride without helmet. Load carriers are not supposed to carry passengers, but we find many of these carrying passengers for some events, dera gatherings, or religious pilgrimage. Gun culture is evident at marriage palaces and gang wars are openly taking place. The police is helpless because the culprits are well connected. Buses, specially those run by politicians, speed with scant regard to road sense or traffic rules. Many lives have thus been lost. The government, I feel, is the real culprit. Are we living in an uncivilised society, or the government and law enforcing agencies are mute spectators?

+ In November 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi created a storm when he accidentally posed with an upside down tricolour flag while shaking hands with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

+ Embattled Union HRD minister Smriti Irani raked up another controversy in January 2016 when she unfurled the national flag upside down in Hardoi where she went to lay the foundation stone of a Kendriya Vidyalaya building.

+ In May 2016, Jalandhar mayor Sunil Jyoti of the BJP posed for several photos, as he was sitting in front of a tricolour flag that was hanging upside down at his office. 

+Latest one !Minister of state home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir took salute at the 51st rising day parade of the BSF with India's tricolour upside down.

Could it happen for their own Bhagwa[RSS] flag ???

OBSCURANTIST INTOLERANT PAROCHIAL!
History and today's day to day experience has established that religion is ineffective and weak in spreading the message of peace and love.As a matter of fact religion has caused more misery to all of mankind in every stage of human history than any other single idea.Whether it is Christianity or Islam or Hinduism,every religion has inculcated an intolerant spirit among its followers which has resulted in bloody clashes,murder and torture of all those who do not submit to that particular faith.Theism teaches man to love "god" so much so that they begin to hate,abhor, and outlaw those,who honestly and sincerely cannot accept the 'incredible' doctrine.It is all due to the fact that all religions are wedded to fanatical intolerance.Today all religions are classical example of sectarian trends and loyalties.It is not one or two instances in the history of religion that 'prove'this or that religion is not secular.The history of every religion is the history of intolerance.So called 'modern and progressive'religious scholars may quote verses here and there from their respective 'holy' scriptures in order to prove 'secular spirit'of their religion. Such passages are very rare and out of context as for as today's subjective and objective conditions are concerned.On the contrary the known verses and the action of the followers,in accordance to the basic spirit of those verses, are the only 'inspiration' for credulous and gullible followers.All religions are same:the Muslims fight with the cry Allah ho Akbar,the Christians in the name of Christ and Hindus with the slogan,Har Har Mahadev.In this context it is interesting to note that when rationalistic doctrines,backed by scientific truth and supremacy of reason and logic,criticize the theism[religions] for their intolerance,irrationality,adamant and uncompromising attitude,religious protectors raise their heads with their 'new' findings and interpretations in order to reestablish so called tolerant and secular spirit of their respective religious dogma.
Illa Wheeler Wilcox,has put the same thought in plainer words:
"so many gods,so many creeds,so many paths that wind and wind;
when just the art of being kind is all that the sad world needs."
